KPIT and Technica Engineering Join Forces to Accelerate Transformation to Software Defined Vehicle (SDV)

Munich, Germany and Pune, Maharashtra, India:

  • Technica Engineering is a pioneer in automotive Ethernet integration and its mastery of automotive networks is unmatched
  • KPIT’s extensive software expertise is vertically integrated with Technica Engineerings specialization in prototyping production-ready systems, making it a game changer for the industry.

KPIT Technologies, a global software integration partner for the automotive and mobility industry, announced the acquisition of Technica Engineering, a company specializing in the prototyping of production-ready systems (combination of system architecture of network, hardware prototyping, integration), automotive Ethernet products and validation tools. This will create global expertise providing a one stop shop for the industry to transform into SDV.

Technica Engineering is headquartered in Munich and is present in Spain, Tunisia and the United States, with a team of over 600 engineers.

The deal is expected to close by the end of October 2022, following the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, and upon completion, Technica Engineering will be wholly owned by KPIT Technologies. The transaction will be EPS accretive upon consolidation.

“The mobility industry uses software to drive innovation and creates a post-sale vehicle business model focused on providing service to end consumers. We are constantly looking for opportunities to help accelerate our customer’s vision. “With Technica Engineering, we will drive value and scale of operations across the entire stack. We have shared strategic customers who will benefit, and we also have access to leading disruptive mobility technology companies.” said Mr. Kishor Patil, Co-Founder, CEO and Managing Director of KPIT Technologies.

“SDV requires a significant shift in electronic architecture, moving from low-computing distributed devices to high-computing central. Rapid prototyping of high-computing hardware and vehicle architecture is essential to validate architecture changes at “As the industry makes this transition. Together we will provide a one-stop-shop enabling the industry to rapidly migrate to SDV by accelerating prototyping and software access and reducing workflow complexity for customers.” , said Mr. Anup Sable, CTO at KPIT Technologies.

“Over the past 14 years, Technica has built a team passionate about cutting-edge technologies in network architecture and system prototyping. A partner with vision and equal value was crucial to scaling and to create leadership in this space. We are thrilled to see that in KPIT. We are confident that together we will play a key role in shaping the future of the mobility industry,” said Mr. Joseba Rodriguez Martinez, CEO of Technica Engineering.

“The boundaries of integration between system architecture, hardware and middleware are blurring. Our goal is to create production-ready system prototyping, network designs, communication drivers, tools and testing solutions that redefine the industry benchmark. The power of KPIT’s software competence will make these solutions exponentially more valuable,” said Mr. Thomas Königseder, CTO of Technica Engineering.
